As a child, I was often taught to believe that anything was possible. Like all good parents, mine allowed me to believe that anything was possible and that the world was my oyster...If that were the entire truth I'd either be a Tony award winning actress on Broadway or a NASA astronaut...but I'm only a librarian.
As I matured into adulthood, so did my belief of possibilities. I honestly believe that the world offers us up possibilities every day, but we ignore 90% of them because we're too focused on what we're currently doing. I also believe that it never hurts to question whether or not something is possible...
Is anything really possible? This guy I know got me wondering about it yesterday...I'd like to be open to all that the world throws my way, but if the people around you aren't open to future possibilities, can they really exist? If one person thinks it's possible and another one doesn't, who wins? Does the possibility become void if someone doubts it?
After all what is a possibility? My definition would be that a possibility is something that could/would happen if something else allowed it to.
I guess what I really want is probability. Perhaps the only way a possibility becomes void is if it isn't probable...
I got a book on the PCAT today. I'm going to study the book to see how well I do on practice tests. I'm considering pharmacy school...in my mind it's possible, but is it probable? Just one more thing that only time will tell...
Possibilities are indeed everywhere, you just have to be adventureous to go after the ones you want. ;) Nothing wrong with being a Librarian vs an Astronaught either. If you love what you are doing then you are set.
