Then after that I headed up to Michigan...or at least tried to. On weekends around here there is crazy construction on EVERY road! It took me 1.5 hours to get into Ohio. This really sucked since I live 12 exits away from Ohio. Once I got into Ohio, it really got moving though...so that's good!
When I got up there Saturday night, I went over to Ang's to help my dad watch Mikayla. Ang/Kev/Melissa/Owen went to the Tigers game. My niece is such a cutie! She's got us all wrapped around her little finger!
On Sunday, we went to church. Then all of us had lunch and hung out at my parents' house. I really like hanging out with my sisters, Owen and Kevin. We played ladderball and I actually helped win a game or two which was nice :)
Sunday night Melissa and I went to DTE to see Maroon 5/Train! The traffic was insane! It was a HUGE sold out audience. I think Maroon 5 is the better of the 2 bands because they totally get the audience pumped up in an infectious way! Train was good, but not great. They should've opened the show. Pat Monahan is having a midlife crisis and he really needs to fix his AWFUL hair dye job...I mean I could do better (he picked a shade that's way way way too dark)!
It was a decent concert overall, but slightly disappointing...both bands have many great songs and because of sound ordinances and such, they don't get to play nearly as long as I'd like... To this day, Travis Tritt is the ONLY performer I have ever seen that played past 11 (when the sound ordinances kick in). He was willing to pay the penalty fees in order to make sure his audience got a great show! I have a lot of respect for him especially because he does things like that...AWESOME!
Here's a few shots:
Then on Monday, my parents and I went to the casino when Melissa was at work. This was an awesome day for me...I walked out $165 ahead thanks to winning Carrie's progressive bonus of ($158.08) on the Sex and the City machine...I am still kind of in shock about this! It was AWESOME! I NEVER win! I'm so glad I picked the right box :) Grant it, this money won't go far with all of the dental work I've got coming up in the near future...but still...YAY!
Then Monday night it was another family night! Again, we played ladderball, took turns holding Mikayla, and had dinner. Then I drove back home. The drive home was much faster than that horrible construction mess on the way up!
Then Tuesday, I worked. Then today I worked again and had a very busy day! Today was American Girls Book Club again. Today our focus was Kirsten. I ended up borrowing my mom's sewing machine to make doll aprons for the girls to decorate (which were a HUGE hit). We did a barn dance, read from "Meet Kirsten", listened to "hits" from 1854 and talked about immigrants and pioneer life! The girls are really into it...
I had to laugh...one of the mom's came up to me afterwards and said "thank you for being so patient"...lol! Some of the girls just like the sound of their own voices I think, and they go off on such far tangents...I let it go for awhile and then keep having to pull them back on topic...but overall it's all good. They're 7-10 for the most part...they're bound to go on tangents.
So yeah, that's what I've been up to the past few days!
I'm so jealous of how close your family is. That's so great! Also way to go at the casino. Were you at MGM? That's Danny's favorite spot.
