So, I just got back from Vegas a couple of days ago and I'm already looking forward to the next time I get to go out there! Sooooooo much fun! The highlights are as follows:
Day 1
-Fly from NY to Phoenix and Phoenix to Las Vegas and actually arrive early all legs of the trip!
-Arrive at the hotel, check in, and go out for an awesome Mexican dinner. Free frozen margaritas for everyone :)
-Spend a little time playing slots at the South Point hotel.
-Meet up and head to the old part of Vegas to see the Fremont Experience. The show we watched was alien themed and pretty cheesy, but hey it's Vegas.
-Gamble a bit downtown, and then dance in the rain (yes it rains in Vegas) to a Johnny Cash tribute band.
-See a few real NASCAR people and get some good NASCAR people watching done...
Day 2
-Started out by going to church and enjoyed the cantor's voice (she sounds just like Ariel from Disney's The Little Mermaid).
-Then we headed in to the cooler part of the strip where all the newer hotels are at.
-Melissa and I explored Treasure Island, the Mirage, The Venetian, Caesar's Palace, Paris, and the new Aria.
-We stopped at Serendipity and shared a yummy frozen hot chocolate too!
-We also watched the Bellagio water show that just happened to be going on as we crossed one of the bridges!
-That night we took in the latest Vegas Cirque du Soleil show Viva Elvis. It was fun, but definitely campy and more focused on the Vegas aspect of Elvis than anything else. It lacked that "wtf just happened" element that the other Cirque shows possess. I had fun watching it, but it felt more like a Broadway musical than a Cirque du Soleil production.
-Afterwards we hit up the Bellagio and checked out their Chinese New Year themed garden. Fun stuff!
-Once we got back to the hotel, Melissa and I went bowling in the hotel! Can't beat dollar games and dollar drinks! I got tipsy to the point where the ball seemed heavy...somehow it made Melissa a better bowler! She ended up bowling a 140 with alcohol in her...I still don't know how she managed that!
Day 3
-We went out to Hoover Dam! We had gone as kids, but since that was 17 years ago, Melissa and I couldn't quite remember what it was all about! It was pretty cool! We went on the Power Plant tour and walked across the state line into Arizona and back! It was also cool to see the construction of a new bridge that will go over the dam.
-At night we went to Chippendales. Having seen Thunder from Down Under last time, we thought it only right to compare... While it was cheesy and fun, it didn't live up to the first experience because Chippendales dancers think they are the shit. Thunder from Down Under dancers appear to genuinely have fun with what they're doing. I did get strapped to a chair and a lap dance from the Chippendales this time...so it was still pretty funny :)
-As the night went on, Melissa and I also got invited into clubs for free.
-First was VooDoo at the Rio. Awesome view of the strip from off of the strip from their terrace!
-Next was the Cat House at the Luxor. They gave us free vodka and Melissa danced on the stage for all of the men! I've never been a prouder big sis! lol! She was soooo cute!
-Finally we went to the Mandalay Bay club which I don't remember the name of. All I know is that the promoter guy wanted to tag team Melissa and me!
Day 4
-We hit up the Venetian and the Palazzo and got to see the big Tiger in honor of Chinese New Year at the Palazzo.
-Then we went out to the Red Rock casino and the M casino. YAY for the M buffet! I ate like a piggy, but it was so yummy! That buffet is my favorite in Vegas because it is new, clean, has delicious food, and it's reasonably priced!
-At night we went and saw Cirque du Soleil's Ka. It has the most amazing stage I have ever seen! The show itself was one of those "wtf just happened" kind of shows, but totally amazing! I've never seen anything quite like it before!
-Afterwards Melissa and I walked the rest of the strip and got alcoholic slurpees which are super fun! We also checked out the Flamingos and Donny Osmond's Coat of many colors! We ended the night at the Encore and realized the strip was dead that night.
Day 5
-We slept in. It felt really good to get a little bit of sleep! We checked out of the hotel and headed back to the M. Gambled for a bit and then I went back to the airport.
Overall it was a super fun trip! I want to go back again because there are still things to do and see! Time will only tell if I'll get the opportunity any time soon!
