A Takach Family Christmas

So yesterday we went and got a family photo. It was highly cheesy, but it's what my dad wanted for the holidays...since we were all here and available, we finally got a picture taken. It's not my personal favorite, but my parents are super happy about it and that's all that really matters :)

After we got the photo, we all went to Thomas' (a local diner style restaurant). We had excellent food and great conversation and overall it set the mood for a lovely evening!

Everyone was stuffed to the brim and we came back to my parents house to exchange gifts. Owen was so excited about the gifts he bought for everyone. For all of us aunts and uncle Nick, Owen got to go to the Dollar Tree and pick us each out one gift. We opened them one by one and it was absolutely adorable...

Nick opened his first--a nerf-style football which Owen said Nick could play with Julie in the house since it was soft.

Julie opened hers--a glass snowman box, for her to decorate her house with.

I got a Vanessa Hudgens' High School Musical 3 chapstick because he and I always watch the movies together :)

Melissa got a pack of pencils--for her to use at school!

Then he gave my mom one of those silly animals that dances and sings a Christmas song--this year she got a silly monkey that makes monkey noises while singing Jingle Bells...it is quite hilarious since the monkey dances so crazy that it falls over like a drunk person when you have it on carpet...lol! And for my dad Owen got him two STAR WARS coffee mugs--one for Grandpa and one for Owen to use when he's here.

We were all so surprised and amused by his thoughtful presents :) They were so awesome! I love my Owen!

After everyone exchanged gifts, we came into the kitchen. Since I won't be here on Christmas Eve, we did the traditional exchange of opłatek which is symbolic of the breaking of bread in Church. You walk around and break bread with one another wishing each other "Merry Christmas". It has always been one of my favorite traditions, and I'm glad we had the opportunity to do it! We all had dessert, then proceeded to talk to one another, help Owen put together his new toys/games, and request songs for Melissa to play on the piano...it was probably one of the nicest Christmases we've ever really had together as a family :)
