So this year for Christmas Eve, I went up to New Rochelle and spent it with Mike and Dalia who were ever so gracious in welcoming me into their home for Christmas despite the fact that they're Jewish and don't really celebrate it! Thank you bunches peeps! Mike cooked an awesome duck and blue potato latkes...oh and he made the winning applesauce :) After dinner we listened to Christmas music and chatted it up til it was time for Church. We went to midnight mass, and overall it was a decent service, except the priest was a little nuts. The priest was monotone the entire mass, but at the end he developed a personality! Go fig. We came back wired from mass and drank hot chocolate before finally going to bed round 3am or so.
Christmas morning, came and Mike made popovers for breakfast even though it was like noon by the time we got around to having breakfast :) We went and saw "Avatar" and then I came back to Brooklyn. Overall it was the best Christmas I could've hoped for and I am super glad to have Mike and Dalia as friends! Thank you for looking out for me :)
Then unfortunately I had to work on Saturday. I'll never understand why BPL decided it made sense to close Thurs/Fri/Sun for the holiday and open on Saturday...way to be cool to your workers...
On Sunday, I headed into the city and Manhattan was bustling! It was nuts! Tons of tourists everywhere...good for the city, but bad for me! Tourists make it very difficult for me to get to my destination quickly since they don't know the NYC walking etiquette! So, I went to church and then went and saw "The Young Victoria" film. LOVED IT! Pretty much the type of movie I needed to see...
Monday, I did the work thing and watched the movie "Holes"--it was pretty well done in comparison to the book! That was a nice surprise :)
That brings us up to today. Today I worked a nice 5 hour day. It is freezing outside though! I wish the wind would die down some! It's making my apartment cold and I can feel the walls and windows shaking from the power of the wind...it's nuts! So, I am snuggled up here in bed with my little heater running. I just finished watching "Bride Wars" which was surprisingly cute...and then I'll be off to bed a bit later...
I want to see Young Victoria! I'm planning on asking Melissa if she wants to go see it with me.
