Happy Days #24

Today after work Melissa and I went to see Beauty and the Beast.  Somehow I haven't managed to see it until now.  Man there were a lot of kids there.  Normally I'm cool with that, but we did have some very spoiled brats next to us for the first half of the show.  They were so bad that even I found them distracting at times and I love kids.

Overall the show was super cheesy at parts.  Lots of slapstick humor to hold the younger kids' interest.  The costumes were over the top ridiculous (like why do the plates need costumes with giant hearts over their girly parts during Be our Guest?).  I was also a bit surprised at the outright sexual moments and all of the drinking.  There's a lot of drinking in this production.  Even one of the girly girls drinks too much and passes out during one of the numbers...  I think most of that went over the kids' heads, but Melissa and I shared a few comments throughout.

The library scene was beyond hilarious.  He shows her the library and it's literally an arch of disorganized books that hangs above them.  That's the best Disney could do with scenery?  That's not a library.  That's an archway of disorganized books.

Oh and the scene where Gaston stabs the Beast was highly amusing.  Pretty much like a scene from Psycho.

But, I have to say, it was enjoyable!
