Happy November

Seriously, my life is super busy.  It's kind of insane, but I love it!  So, the big stuff since my last post on Oct 20...

So back in October, Melissa and I went to see the Skate America exhibitions.  I would have loved to go to the whole competition, but that was my weekend to work.  All in all, it was fun to see today's skaters put on a show.

Then later that week, Cassandra and I went to see the Gary Allan/Sheryl Crow concert.  It was a blast!  It's not often that we get to hang out for a whole night, but it's great when we do!  We had a couple of beers and hot dogs and just enjoyed the live music.  Our seats were pretty awesome too!

Then the next night, Melissa and I went to see Steve Winwood and Rod Stewart in concert.  Steve decided to just go into a jam session without really doing much singing...so I was disappointed.  I love his old stuff and I think the guy can still sing--it just would have been nice if he'd sang more than he did.  As for Rod...what a crazy old fella.  I thought he was highly amusing, but Melissa think he should retire since he forgot the words to his songs two times...oops!  He also kicked soccer balls out into the crowd, which almost turned into a riot and made for some really interesting people watching!

That Sunday, I went out to dinner with Jack and Carrie.  Jack treated, although he didn't have to.  It was fun as always, catching up with the crew.

Then Melissa, Phil, and I went to the Pistons' home opener!  The game was a close one, but the Pistons came out on top!  I think we all had a good time being a part of the game!

Then Melissa and I went down to Cleveland.  Scott Hamilton's foundation had a contest for cancer survivors, and I was selected as the winner.  For the contest I had to tell them what being a survivor has taught me.  My response was: "I was 5 when I was diagnosed  with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  I've never really known a life where I wasn't a 'cancer survivor.' As a result, I've always lived my life differently from my peers. Cancer taught me that you always tell those around you that you love them, you don't wait for tomororw, and you live every day to the fullest because it's a gift. The biggest lesson is that 'life has no guarantees.' If you have an opportunity, you take it. No regrets!" I truly try to live my life that way, and as a result, awesome things come my way--like this!  So because I was selected, I was give 2 tix to his ice show benefit, a meet and greet with Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill, an overnight stay at the Rennaissance hotel, and a gift certificate for dinner.

Melissa and I had an awesome time!  The drive down there was easy, and even though the weather was crappy and terrible, we still managed to have a good time.  Meeting Scott and Dorothy was a dream come true for me.  I grew up watching them on tv and I've idolized their skating styles for years!  Plus the show was fantastic!  Cyndi Lauper sang all of the music for the show and she was outstanding!  I knew she was talented, but I had no idea how great of a performer she is live!  Then for dinner we went to a swanky place called "Parallax" and had a phenomenal seafood meal.  Oh, and the hotel bed was one of the comfiest beds I've slept in!  It was a once in a lifetime experience, and I'm glad I got to share it with Melissa!

Also this week, I had the pleasure of visiting with Mindy on Monday, and then with Kelly on Wednesday!

Outside of that, it's just working!
