Then I watched the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade. It's something I've done almost every single year of my life. It doesn't change much from year to year but it is a part of this city and it's a tradition. It sets the tone for the season and I'm glad we have it!
I was also good and got my workout in. I figured I'd probably be going all in with the food, so I made sure to get my Pyramid workout in. Then I watched the movie The Witches until it was time to go to dinner.
This year, we took up my cousin's standing invite to attend her Thanksgiving dinner. Every year she invites us and it worked out that we could go this year. Ashley went all out and had enough food to feed an army. She did a fantastic job and I know she was happy to have us! I felt soooooo full afterwards, but all good.
Then around 10:30 p.m. we were still up and jazzed so Melissa, Phil, and I went to Michaels craft store. Since it was going to be open until 2 a.m. anyways, I figured I might as well take advantage of their 30% off a purchase. Plus they had a bunch of stuff on sale and I like to craft!
We also popped in the mall around 11:15 p.m. to see what things were like, but it was kind of overwhelming. We just walked around and looked at things but didn't buy anything. It was crazy to see how many people were actually out. I don't like crowds or people...so yeah overwhelming!
Friday morning, I woke up around 8 and decided that I'd go check out Target. The store was empty. It was fantastic. I ended up buying myself 5 movies and a few other things for presents. I didn't have to fight with anyone or reach over anyone or feel overcrowded. It was the perfect time to be there and I still got deals. Bonus--NO LINE! I walked in and out.
When I came home I started working on my winter wreath with my Michaels supplies. Then I went to see Catching Fire alone. The movie was great! I think Francis Lawrence did a great job directing. The only thing I hated was the final shot of the movie...kind of reminiscent of the ending of Breaking Dawn pt. 1 for me.
After that I came back home, fed my dad some lunch and watched Red 2. Talk about a great action movie! I loved it! Just as good as the first one!! While watching, I also finished up my wreath:
Overall I think this wreath came out quite pretty. I'm proud of it. I saw an all silver wreath in the Martha Stewart Living magazine, and although it was completely different, it was definitely my inspiration for this one.
After that, Melissa and I went to see Elton John in concert. It was fun! The old man can still put on quite a show and he has so many songs... He sang a full 2.5 hours and he was kind of a diva! It was a blast!! Also, he had the 2 Cellos open for him with "Smooth Criminal" and "Smells like Teen Spirit". They also play in his band. It was awesome!
