Friday was my last day at BPL. Although I didn't show it, it was a super emotional day for me. I spent the last two years and nine months at Kensington...it became a very big part of me...and for my last day, my co-workers took super good care of me! They threw me a little party with lots of food and cards and gifts and well wishes. Even Dana and Antoinette came back to send me off with a bang (Dana switched branches and Antoinette retired)!! They made me feel super special and I am getting teary-eyed now thinking about how much I will miss just about everyone at Kensington...
Saturday was also another emotional day for me. I said goodbye to my NYC Bay Ridge apartment and lifestyle. For as much as I complained about it all, I loved it! There was something wonderful about that world and that apartment...even the superintendent wished me well and told me he'd miss me...Other people in the apartment did the same...telling me that they'd miss me because I'm such a nice girl and yada yada yada... Anyways, eventually the apartment was empty, and a saddness hit me...the finality of an empty place...strange...
So my dad and I drove from NY to KY and went to bed pretty much as soon as we got in. On Sunday we got up early and unloaded the truck. With everything in the apartment, we got cleaned up and went to church. Afterwards we spent the day shopping for apartment things and unpacking some of the boxes...unfortunately I still have lots to do, but my dad was a big help!
Today, my dad drove home and I started my first day of work! Overall, it was a pretty good day! I've got a lot to learn, but I think it will be a positive move for me...it's just so different from NY though...people say please and thank you and smile all the time here... Also everything is huge here! I went to Kroger to get some groceries today and almost had a panic attack! The place was probably the size of a city block! I've NEVER been in a grocery store that big...super overwhelming! It's weird how much space there is...that's one thing NY will never have!
So, essentially, this crazy adventure has begun...not sure how it's going to turn out, but it is exciting and frightening all at once!
The Kroger was like bigger than Meijers?
