The purpose of this article is to get people to consider letting go of negative things in order to become a better person. I've decided to try and follow this list for my "new year's resolutions"...
Let's dive in:
1. Let go of all thoughts that don't make you feel empowered and strong.
This one will be easy to accomplish. I have been doing this for a few years now and it's great. My mind can be my own worst enemy, so I consciously try to give myself pep talks each day. I am awesome, and I own it.

2. Let go of feeling guilty for doing what you truly want to do.
Growing up Catholic, guilt is laid on heavy. I've come to accept that as fact. However, I don't think I have to feel guilty for everything anymore. I sometimes have to remind myself that "yes you're a grown up and you can do as you please". So I won't feel guilty if I have tons of bad food around the holidays, skip a workout, or get a new tattoo. Life is for living. Sure, live in moderation, but don't deprive.

3. Let go of the fear of the unknown; take one small step and watch the path reveal itself.
I'm not sure how to tackle this one. I'm not really afraid of the unknown. I go places by myself. I take risks. I look for opportunities. Perhaps, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.

4. Let go of regrets; at one point in your life, that “whatever” was exactly what you wanted.
I'll soon be able to chock it all up to, that was my stupidity in my 20s. We all do things we regret, but we can't dwell on it.

5. Let go of worrying; worrying is like praying for what you don’t want.
Done.
Done.
6. Let go of blaming anyone for anything; be accountable for your own life. If you don’t like something, you have two choices, accept it or change it.
I agree with this statement. I think this is something I've already done as well.

7. Let go of thinking you are damaged; you matter, and the world needs you just as you are.
This one is hard. I have always considered myself "TJ Maxx style" (designer, but damaged, and discounted). Through out the years, I let myself believe that I was damaged due to being a cancer survivor. It's a dark path my mind sometimes wanders down and in many ways, physically I am damaged. My growth was stunted, my lungs don't fully inflate, I've got scars, etc. Emotionally, I have grown a lot over the last few years, due to that "stupidity of my early 20s". I'm going to try harder to stop thinking of myself as damaged.

8. Let go of thinking your dreams are not important; always follow your heart.
My dream this year is to attend ALA in Vegas for my birthday. Yes, it's lame, but it is important to me.

9. Let go of being the “go-to person” for everyone, all the time; stop blowing yourself off and take care of yourself first … because you matter.
I am guilty of this from time to time. I listen to everyone's drama and problems. I go out of my way to make sure others are taken care of. I put me on the back-burner. I will try harder to say the word "no" at least once or twice this year.

10. Let go of thinking everyone else is happier, more successful or better off than you. You are right where you need to be. Your journey is unfolding perfectly for you.
I already have accepted that my life is as perfect as it can be. It is a journey, but God never puts me anywhere I'm not meant to be. He's looking out for me and I trust him on this crazy journey.

11. Let go of thinking there's a right and wrong way to do things or to see the world. Enjoy the contrast and celebrate the diversity and richness of life.
This is tough for me. I have high standards for myself and others and I often want more for those around me. I need to stop judging others for their choices. I don't mean to do it, but I do it. Eventually I just remind myself that people have the right to make their own choices. I just have to tell myself to stop thinking that they're making the wrong choices. Maybe those are the right choices for them.

12. Let go of cheating on your future with your past. It’s time to move on and tell a new story.
So true. I'm guilty of letting my past predict my future. One of the biggest proofs of that is that I have no desire to date in the future because of the past. Relationships are effed up and I want no part. I need to work on that attitude, even if I don't jump back in the ring.

13. Let go of thinking you are not where you should be. You are right where you need to be to get to where you want to go, so start asking yourself where you want to go.
I need to ask myself where I want to go. I am comfortable where I am and as a result, have no clue as to where I want to go. If you were to ask me where I see myself in 5 years, I'd just laugh. No clue.

14. Let go of anger toward ex lovers and family. We all deserve happiness and love; just because it is over doesn’t mean the love was wrong.
Anger is a vicious emotion. I'm over ex-lovers and family. I'm more at the point of indifference. I don't want the ex-lovers in my life and certain family members don't want to be in my life. I think we're all happier this way. Be happy and love who you love.
15. Let go of the need to do more and be more; for today, you've done the best you can, and that's enough.
I like to stay busy. I'm constantly overscheduling myself. I take too much on. My plate is always overfull. Sometimes, it's just going to have to be a good enough job.

16. Let go of thinking you have to know how to make it happen; we learn the way on the way.
It's true. I have no idea how to make things happen. Often, they just happen.

17. Let go of your money woes — make a plan to pay off debt and focus on your abundance.
I'm going to try really hard to stick to a budget this year. I usually do good for a bit and then go back to my frivolous ways. I need to stick to a budget. Life is abundant enough. I don't need as many material goods.

18. Let go of trying to save or change people. Everyone has her own path, and the best thing you can do is work on yourself and stop focusing on others.
This is always tough for me. I have to just let go of my opinions and let people live their lives the way they want to.

19. Let go of trying to fit in and be accepted by everyone. Your uniqueness is what makes you outstanding.
I gave up on trying to fit in years ago. There's no point. Either take me as is or leave me. I think that freaks people out a lot.

20. Let go of self-hate. You are not the shape of your body or the number on the scale. Who you are matters, and the world needs you as you are. Celebrate you!
I have a hard time celebrating me. This year, I'm going to do just that. I'm even going to have a birthday party. It's going to get crazy peeps!
