So yesterday I went to the McConnell Conference down in Lexington. I listened to three authors speak: M.T. Anderson, Jennifer Holm, & Lisa Desimini.
M.T. Anderson was by far the best! He even sang a song from one of his books! His views and scenarios are just incredible and captivating! He also talked about how he keeps missing the boat...he wrote "Feed" (dystopian) and "Thirsty" (vampires) before the genres were trendy! He was also really down to earth which is awesome!
Jennifer Holm was interesting too because she went through the entire evolution of Babymouse. Although I'm not a huge fan of the series myself, I know the kids love it.
Then last night, I was a "chaperone" for our Teen Advisory Group field trip to the movies. We saw the "Hunger Games" movie. Luckily the teens were great and we didn't have any unnecessary drama with them! As for the movie itself, it was good. The book was way better, but that's because in the book you get to know what Katniss is thinking and why she is doing the things she's doing...whereas in the movie, that's missing. That's all I'm going to say because I don't want to ruin it if you haven't seen it yet! Just know that the acting is better than the Twilight movies for sure :)
