Lately at work I have been having to meet deadline after deadline after deadline with no real time to sit back and work on other things. This go go go is tiring for me. It also consists of lots of meetings that I have to run...and those are exhausting for me. As an introvert, it's extremely hard to be "on" all the time. I have to socialize constantly and it's exhausting...as a fellow introvert I know you understand Mimi.
I have to work the next 2 weekends, so I felt that i deserved a lazy weekend. I ended up watching a lot of Netflix and cleaning up my apartment.
I strongly recommend the "When We Left Earth: the NASA Missions" mini-series. It was awesome! Between Gary Sinise's awesome narrating voice and the background music and the footage, I felt like I was watching the missions live. All in all, I love NASA. They have done some incredible stuff, and even now I kind of want to be an astronaut (although I'm not smart enough or in good enough shape). This was one of the best NASA documentaries I've ever watched. It didn't get too technical or boring. It also had good timing. Each episode was roughly 50 minutes and each one focused on something new: Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Shuttle, Hubble, and Space Station.
The space walks still fascinate me the most...especially when they use the jet packs and aren't attached to anything!!! Just watching it, I was a bit freaked! What would they do if something went wrong? Just float in space forever? EEK!
I want to go to space soooooooooo bad! However, I'll settle for a behind the scenes tour of the Cape! If anyone has any connections...I'd be forever grateful if you let me inside the control room!!!!
I am a bit bummed that they've retired the shuttles though :( Those were quite magnificent really. I know they weren't cost-effective, but they were beautiful pieces of machinery! Hopefully, we'll find a newer way to keep sending people up there! After all, somebody has to keep that International Space Station going!
I wish everyone loved space as much as I do. It's just so incredibly fascinating and mystifying and scary! Also, props to Disney World--their Mission to Mars ride is actually a great simulation for the every day person of what it would be like to travel through space...they are so detailed! Dang, I kind of want to go to Disney World now.
I've also been watching my fair share of the NCAA coverage. I have 5 brackets. Two aren't bad, 2 are okay, 1 sucks. We'll see how it all turns out in the end! Go UK ;)
As for the cleaning, my apartment is in good shape right now. I ended up going through my clothes a bit and took a couple boxes full to Goodwill. I was surprised at how easy it was to donate...literally I pulled up and popped the trunk and the 2 guys grabbed the stuff. Easy peasy.
I want to go to Disney World too!
