Just about time to play some catch up...

I've been a pretty busy girl as of late. I went home this past weekend and it was quite interesting.

To start out the trip I flew out of Laguardia 95 minutes late, and missed my layover in Philadelphia. So my 1 hour layover turned into a 12 hour one and for the first time ever, I spent the night inside an airport. I met a really nice girl, Jenn, who was trying to get home to Knoxville, and we ended up hanging out together for the night. It was nice because we both had someone to hang out with then :) The airline doesn't compensate you if your delay is caused by "air traffic"--fyi. The airport, however, gave us each a pillow, an emergency blanket, a cookie, and a bottle of water.

Friday morning, I finally made it in to Detroit. I was super exhausted but decided to see if I could make it through the day anyways. So, I went out to lunch with my parents and Melissa. Then I went shopping with my mom and Melissa and we found my mom a nice top to wear to the baby shower. Friday night, Ang had all of us over for a bbq to celebrate Owen's graduation from Kindergarten...he's getting way too big too fast! We rounded out the night with some RockBand playing...good times :)

Saturday was the baby shower day. It was super tense between us girls and Nick and he didn't even acknowledge his sisters or mother at the shower. There's been a bit of drama there lately, but what can you do? Nick and Julie got some really nice gifts, and baby will be here before you know it...so hopefully all will work out and those two will be happy. After all was said and done, we ended up going to church and I learned from the priest, that Holy Orders makes a priest Jesus and that the bread and wine become Jesus' body and blood because he says so. If nothing else, that priest is amusing. Ang, Kev, and Owen ended up coming over to my parents' house for pizza and everyone continued to get along. Melissa and I went back to Ang's later on and played some more RockBand with Owen. Once we left it was a monsoon outside and we both got drenched...luckily the really bad weather went south though and we were all safe and sound.

Sunday my parents and Melissa and I went to the casinos. It's just fun times. For the first time in like 10 casino hops, I actually walked out with more in my pocket than I came with...not much, but still, I was a WINNER :) Then we went to glow-in-the-dark putt putt golf. Ang rigged the scores so Owen would finish in 2nd place, but really I finished 2nd. Melissa, of course, finished in 1st. Later in the evening Melissa and I went out to dinner with Cassandra, who I haven't seen in forever and good times were had :) She's doing great and she's a blast to hang out with! Definite good times.

Monday, Owen woke me up early because he came over with a "special" treat for breakfast. He said I had to wake up because we had to eat together at the same time. When I came out into the kitchen he got the biggest grin across his face as he told me that he bought me the big box of TimBits (Tim Horton's donut holes) because he knew I would like them! That kid just makes me smile :) So we ate our breakfast and then went to Chuck E Cheese. Together Owen and I won a bunch of tickets and he got some pretty cool prizes. Owen also got a kick out of the air hockey table because it was broken and we got 4-5 games out of it for ONE token! lol! Then I went out to eat with Myron. He's sort of like a stand-in grandfather for me, since I never really got to know my grandfathers. We had some really great conversation, and yummy food :) I'm glad that I got the chance to see him! He's doing really well all things considered! At night I went and saw Owen again and unfortunately had to hear him cry as Melissa and I were leaving because he wanted to come with us too...

Then yesterday I woke up at 4am and began my journey back to NYC. Had a quick layover in Washington, D.C. and now I really want to visit our nation's capital again. It is so cool...I definitely need to find a way to do that in the future...got lots of other things to tend to at this time... Anyways, made it back to NYC in a decent amount of time, and then went home to drop off my stuff and then into work til 8pm... A long day for sure, but all in all, I can't complain.

Highlight of work yesterday--as my coworker and I were on our way to lunch, we saw a man peeing in the street at 4pm. Really? Way to keep it classy Kensington.
