Whenever you're up, something will knock you down

So, this past week hasn't been the best in my life. On Monday, we received an email from BPL's director saying that preliminary layoffs would be issued and anyone who would be potentially effected would receive a call from HR. It made for a super stressful day and every time the phone rang, we all were a bit on edge. I knew for sure I'd be getting a call, but we weren't sure who else would. All in all, 3 librarians from my branch got the call.

On Wednesday, I got to go down to HR for them to personally hand deliver my layoff notice. I've got 90 days. So, come Sept 1, I most likely will not be working for BPL anymore. I thought I'd be ok with potential layoffs until I was physically handed the papers. Sure the idea of having a little time off is great, but the reality of "what the hell am I going to do" hit me like a ton of bricks.

I know that no matter what happens, I'll be fine, but in the mean time we've got to advocate advocate advocate and see if we can get at least some of the funding restored so my two co-workers won't be laid off with me.

Also this past week I found out that Odile's dad isn't doing great and it sucks. It sucks that I can't be there for her. It sucks that I can't just fly out and spend some time with her. It sucks that she has to go through all of this. It just SUCKS! So please, keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers...please!

Yesterday was Melissa and my mom's birthday. Unfortunately it didn't go super well. Well wishes for the both of them, anyways though. Hopefully the year will go better than the day...

Outside of that, I don't know. I'm a bit all over the place. My mind is flippin out. In general I'm stressing. The next 90 days should be very interesting.
