Skating Fun

I have been needing new skating boots for awhile now because my old ones have been making my feet go numb and they were super duper heavy.  So I ended up going out to the Detroit Skating Club to see Ms. Jones--the person that everybody goes to for new skates.  We tried on a handful of different boots, but eventually I found a pair of boots that fit well AND fit my old blades!  Because my blades were still in good condition, it made no sense to get new ones (especially since they would have cost another $300-$400).

Anyways, once we had the right fit, Ms. Jones had to work on mounting my blades.  After a good 3-4 adjustments, Ms. Jones asked me if I wanted to try them out on the ice.  Of course, I wanted to!  So, Ms. Jones took me to one of the 3 arenas in the place that had only 4 skaters on the ice...and one of those skaters was Yuka Sato!

Now, let me geek out here for a minute...  I'm not saying that we had some deep meaningful conversation or anything, but she did smile at me when I got out on the ice.  Now this is only a big deal because Yuka Sato is a World Champion!  I knew she coached and skated there, but to actually be ON the ice with her--talk about awesome :)  Now I can say I skated with a World Champion...even if it was only for 5 minutes while I did some drills to make sure my skates were fitting properly and that my blades were mounted correctly.

Yuka has always been a very beautiful and graceful skater.  I am totally geeked!!

And in case you have no idea who I'm talking about...
