First of all I did the prep on Wednesday--no food, only liquids, which was super hard when everyone around me was eating delicious things...
Then on Thursday it was colonoscopy time. First of all they took me to one room where they had to put in my i.v. There was a nurse in training and she asked if she could do it. Of course I said yes, because I know they have to learn somehow. Unfortunately she missed the first time and I got poked a second time...no biggie...I've had worse.
Then they wheeled me into another room. The doc came in and said "how's my favorite librarian doing?" I said good. Next thing I knew I was waking up in a different room! That's where it starts getting funny (gotta love sedation).
Somehow I think the nurse dressed me, although I have zero recollection of getting my shoes on. Next thing I knew, I was in a wheelchair getting to the car. Flash forward, my dad and I stopped for food because I was starving. I told him what I wanted (which I don't remember). We got back to my place. I said my legs were heavy. I ate (even though I don't remember doing so). I went to lay down in my bed and fell asleep. Melissa called me and asked me how I was...apparently I told her I was sleeping and hung up? (again NO recollection). Finally I woke up about 6 hours after my operation and felt normal again. Kinda scary, but pretty funny too. Thank goodness I have the best dad in the world who came and took care of me during this time...Lord only knows what I said to him along the way...
To make me feel even better, I woke up to lots of flowers!

All in all, it wasn't a bad experience since I can't remember much of anything! In two weeks I get a full report...all I know for now is that they removed four polyps and they want me to increase my fiber... Good news: no tears in the lining and no ulcers!
