I feel like things are just going by too quickly. April is half over and I still have 9 million things to get done for work before May 15. There definitely aren't enough hours in the day!
Last week I was fortunate enough to attend MLA's Spring Institute. It's a 2 day library conference for children's librarians. It was really well organized and inspired me in many ways. Every day I work towards improving library service, but it's a slow go. Sometimes, I just wish people were more willing to try new things. I hate being a late adopter for EVERYTHING! It'd be nice to move up to the middle of the pack if nothing else.
Anyways, the conference was great! We had a lot of great authors/speakers including: Tim Cusack, Daniel Kirk, Margaret Peterson Haddix, Aprilynne Pike, and Eugene Yelchin. They were all worth listening to. Great public speaking skills and fascinating stories.
I also got to spend extra time with 2 of my co-workers, while socializing with a bunch of librarians from all over the state. It was great! I'm glad my library sees the importance of things like this and lets us attend from time to time!
